"We dont stop playing because we grow old, we grow old because we stop playing"

George Bernard Shaw

Isle Care is very proud of the activities that are provided throughout the four homes. Activities are key to providing a stimulating home environment and improving residents well-being.

Out & About

Out & About

All four homes have twice weekly organised trips around the Island and residents can choose to go on all or some of the outings .The trips are provided through our partnership with the Island branch of RSVP who are part of the community services volunteer network. Popular excursions include trips to the seaside, tearoom’s and shopping opportunities. In the summer months trips are planned for going off Island to places such as the New Forest and the lovely Exbury Gardens and beyond.

Home Sweet Home

As well as organised outings, each home has its own Activities Coordinator who provide daily activities for the residents based on their interests. Some group sessions are organised with favorites such as bingo and sing-a-longs being regular events, while others are seasonal such as Christmas and Easter card making where residents are encouraged and supported to make their own personal cards. Other opportunities to take part in national celebration days e.g. Halloween, Remembrance Sunday and St George’s Day etc.

Card Making

Although there are group activities, all residents’ needs are considered and provided for where possible.

Community and Communication

When residential care is considered, the isolation from the outside world is often seen as a negative factor. We try to encourage the community to come into our homes and have regular visitors who provide the link to the community and beyond. Some people bring pets into the homes; others come to run the hair salons, while some provide light entertainment such as music afternoons, art classes or just sit and talk to residents. Families are always welcomed encouraged to visit.

At Isle Care we are embracing the use of modern communication and are planning to install IT technology in all our homes to help residents to keep in touch with the outside world including family and friends abroad. We plan to run ‘Silver Surfer’ training to help those who want to learn to use computers, and are introducing interactive whiteboards for our activity planning.
