Job Profile
The post-holder will be employed by Isle Care Limited as part of the care team to work with customers living in one of the residential units. Staff may on occasions be required to work in other units or in the community as and when requested by the Manager. The post-holder must work to the defined Company quality standards.
The main purpose of the job is to undertake duties aimed at providing a clean, tidy, hygienic and comfortable environment for residents. Examples of the work to be carried out are as follows:
- Carries out personal care duties such as helping a client to the toilet or providing safe manual handling as directed by another member of staff. Contributes to the residents' care planning process as required.
- Cleans various areas of the unit as allocated by the Manager or supervisor including residents' bedrooms, ensuring they are maintained in a comfortable and hygienic condition, involving residents where possible and practical.
- When working within the kitchen area, cleans the kitchen equipment, floors, surfaces, cupboards and storage areas on a daily basis as agreed with or directed by the supervisor or Cook.
- In older persons homes may also be required to carry out simple cooking and meal presentation under the direction of the Cook or Assistant Cook either for serving within the Unit or for customers within the community or related units. In Learning disability homes would be required to cook/ prepare meals for the residents.
- Assists in keeping unit/designated areas tidy.
- Undertakes basic preparation of food and beverages, eg preparing and serving light snacks such as sandwiches, rolls, toast, etc for residents in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines.
- Carries out kitchen and dining room activities such as laying tables and clearing away as required.
- Uses powered equipment including laundry and cleaning equipment.
- Takes proper care of all equipment and uses such cleaning agents and chemicals as necessary in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines.
- Observes the residents' well-being and environment and reports any problems, hazards or difficulties immediately to a senior member of staff.
- Attends meetings, training courses and follow-up refresher courses as required.
- Maintains a professional and hygienic appearance, and uses personal protective equipment (e.g. disposable gloves and aprons) as required.
- Maintains care and business confidentiality.
- Undertakes other such duties as may be required by the Manager or supervisor.
