Responsible to: Manager/Cook/Senior staff on duty

The main purpose of the job is to undertake duties aimed at providing a clean, tidy, hygienic and comfortable environment for customers. The post-holder must work to the defined Company quality standards. Examples of the work to be carried out are as follows:-

  1. Cleans (including the emptying of bins) and vacuums, in all areas of the Home as allocated by the Manager or Supervisor including general and communal areas, e.g. Corridors, lounges, offices, toilets, laundry and storage areas, ensuring they are maintained in a safe, comfortable, tidy and hygienic condition.
  2. When working within the kitchen area: cleans equipment, floors, surfaces, drainage systems, cupboards and storage areas as agreed with or directed by the Manager or Cook. This may include deep cleaning of equipment/storage areas/facilities.
  3. Carries out kitchen and dining room activities such as laying tables and clearing away as required.
  4. Takes proper care of all equipment and uses such cleaning chemicals as necessary in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines.
  5. Maintains professional and hygienic appearance, and uses personal protective equipment as required.
  6. Uses hygienic and appropriate waste disposal systems.
  7. Maintains care and business confidentiality.
  8. Attends meetings, training courses and follow-up refresher courses as required.
  9. Undertakes other duties as may be required by the Manager or Supervisor.
