Reporting to: Training Manager

Job Profile

Principal Responsibilities:

Training and Development Policy/Strategy

  1. To provide advice and guidance to Managers on general training matters and assist with the development of corporate training strategies.
  2. To contribute to training and systems throughout the organisation to ensure a safe working environment for staff and compliance with Health and Safety legislation.
  3. To participate in the development of a training strategy which clearly sets out the Company's commitment to the provision of training for all staff and integrates organisational/business objectives and individual development needs.
  4. To advise the Company on relevant developments in training and their application.

Co-ordination of Resources

  1. To develop innovative, flexible and appropriate initiatives to meet the Company's training needs and provide development opportunities for staff.
  2. To work closely with other members of the training team in developing strategies for the delivery of training and subsequent evaluation.
  3. To identify the most cost-effective and appropriate means of meeting training and assessment needs, balancing internal and external resources.
  4. To advise Managers and other external organisations on specific areas of training needs, suggesting suitable responses.
  5. To assist with the development of corporate initiatives, e.g. NVQ's.
  6. Undertake delivery of direct training, assessment and development activity within the Company and to external agencies, as required.

Evaluation and Control

  1. To monitor and evaluate outcomes of the training provided, liasing with service managers and making recommendations to the training team for variations to meet changing staff and service needs.

General

  1. Undertake the Learning and Development level 3 units, supported by the Training Management, with a target date for completion of one year from the date of appointment.
  2. Undertake personal training in order to carry out direct training and to support unit staff for Isle Care and Horizon Training.
  3. As knowledge and skill levels increase will be required to assist with other training related activities for Isle Care and Horizon Training.
  4. To undertake any other duties relevant to the aims and objectives of the post.

This is a first level management position, the postholder will be required to perform at all times at this level and respect the confidentiality of information to which they have access when undertaking their duties. Any issues of concern must be discussed with the Training Manager.
