Isle Care Managers
Steve Witheyman
Regional Manager; BSc; MA
Steve joined the Somerset care group in October 2005 having from a senior management role with social services. Steve worked in social services for over 20 years prior to joining the not for profit sector and has experience of working in both child care and adult care services and was a mental health social worker before entering social care management in 1997. Steve has responsibility for the overall strategic management of the southern region for the Somerset care group, and in particular the many services Isle Care delivers in the adult social care sector.
Virginia Brown
Development Manager
Virginia joined Isle Care in 1995. She joined the company as a registered manager for one of the older persons homes. Virginia then moved to operational responsibility for all older persons and learning disability residential homes.
In 2006 Virginia became development manager for Isle Care.
Mandy Minshull
Area Manager for Residential Learning Disability Services
Mandy has worked for Isle Care since her return to the island in 2000 in various roles. She had previously worked in a learning disability home in Shanklin, starting as a Care Assistant in 1992. The home was originally run by the Community NHS Trust, then by Isle Care.
Although Mandy is now Area Manager for LD residential services here on the island, she has also worked for Birmingham's NHS Trust learning disability service, and the Somerset Care Group in Bromsgrove, Worcs as a Deputy Manager of an older persons home. She has also been Deputy Manager and Registered Manager of older persons homes here on the island for Isle Care, before returning to learning disability services in 2004.
Alison Lyons
Registered Manager
Alison joined Isle Care in 2008 as the Community Services Team Manager. Alison has worked with people with a learning disability across a variety of services for over 20 years.
Her career in learning disability services began on the Island working in long stay hospital and residential care. She left the Island in 1989 to complete her learning disability studies in Winchester and then went on to work for Hampshire County Council as a day service officer and care manager. She qualified and a social worker and continued her carer in learning disability care management with Surrey County Council before returning to the Island in 2007.
Our aim in the Community Support Team is to enable people to live the lives they choose and be involved in how we shape our service to support them. These are exiting times in community services with great opportunities ahead for all`.
Gail Brook
Registered Manager
Before joining Isle Care Gail worked in retail management. Gail joined Isle Care in 2000 as an assistant manager at Steephill one of the older persons homes.
In 2002 Gail started assessing NVQ candidates within the home. In 2003 Gail then moved to become registered manager in one of Isle Care's learning disability homes. Gail continued to be a registered manager but she also took on the role of assessing NVQ candidates throughout Isle Care. In April 2006 Gail took up the role as a full time trainer for Isle Care.
